THE WATERSHED INSPECTOR for the town of Wayne works in conjunction with the Keuka Watershed Improvement Cooperative (KWIC) providing a uniform wastewater enforcement program through out the Keuka and Waneta Lake Watershed, adhering to NYS Wastewater Treatment Standards for Individual Household Systems (Appendix 75-A of NYS Health Regulations).

Permits for new systems are available via your local Zoning Officer. ALL new and repaired systems must be professional engineer stamped with permits and designs approved by the Zoning Officer and the KWIC Manager.

The Watershed Inspector must be present at pumping to be considered an inspection.

THE WATERSHED INSPECTOR inspects Individual Household wastewater systems in:

Zone 1 Inspection: Local law requires inspection of wastewater systems within 200 feet of a lake or watercourse to a lake, a minimum of once in five years. The schedule for these inspections is established by the Watershed Inspector and the Watershed Manager.

Zone 1 - Septic Systems on 5 year rotation - no charge Requires pumping from registered septic pumper, and access for house inspection.

Zone 1 - Holding Tanks on an annual rotation - no charge Requires pumping from registered septic pumper and access for house inspection.

Zone A - Waneta Lake & Sylvan Beach residents - Local law requires inspection of wastewater systems of all Sylvan Beach properties and those within 200 feet of a lake or watercourse to a lake, a minimum of once in five years. The schedule for these inspections is established by the Watershed Inspector and the Watershed Manager.
